Children's park near Miyako Messe

A children's park in a corner of Okazaki Park Nearby is the Kyoto Prefectural Library and the Dr. Wagener Memorial Monument, and a short walk away is Heian Shrine. I came to the nearby children's park to wait for the opening of "Miyako Messe". Maybe because it rained last night, a carpet of fallen leaves had formed. Maybe because it was morning, Okazaki Park and Heian Shrine were filled with local residents taking walks, and there were few tourists. There were no people in the children's park either, so I enjoyed the luxurious view of the autumn leaves dancing in Kyoto all to myself while swinging on a swing. By the way, there is a monument to Dr. Wagener in one corner of the park. ●Dr. Wagener (Gottfried Wagener) Chemist In 1878, he was invited by the second governor of Kyoto Prefecture and taught as a professor at the "Chemical Science Bureau" and "Kyoto Medical School". He especially contributed to the improvement of ceramics, cloisonné glazes, glass and dyeing techniques in the field of chemical crafts. After losing his job when the Chemical Science Bureau was abolished in 1881, he became a professor of manufacturing chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Tokyo. He had close ties with Kyoto for about three years.
