I came to Nokogiriyama. Nokogiriyama is a mountain located on the border between Kyonan Town, Awa County, Chiba Prefecture and Futtsu City, and its official name is Mount Kenkon. The mountain is mainly made of tuff, which is suitable for use as stone material for construction, and has been actively quarried since the Edo period. The remains of a stone quarry still remain. As a result of quarrying, the exposed rocks on the mountain surface look like sawtooth stones, which is why it came to be called Nokogiriyama. On Nokogiriyama, there is a mountaintop observation deck called Jigoku Nozoki. From the observation deck, you can see about 100 meters below from the rock face that juts out downward on the cliff of the former stone quarry, and you can also see Tokyo Bay, the Boso Hills, Mount Fuji, and more. In addition to the observation deck, there are other recommended spots such as the Nihonji Daibutsu, the Hyakushaku Kannon, and the Sengohyaku Rakan.
