Sensoji Temple

History of the temple This temple is a Buddhist temple that worships the Goddess of Mercy or Bodhisattva Kannon (Kannon Bosatsu) and is the oldest temple in Tokyo. The history goes back to 628 when two fishermen brothers found a small statue of the Goddess of Mercy in the Sumida River and brought it back to the village.
