Sightseeing in Kawagoe, the castle town of Little Edo

The old town area in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture, is known as "Little Edo" because of its rows of storehouses. It's a small tourist spot, and on the day I visited, a lantern festival was being held. The townscape has an atmosphere reminiscent of the Edo period, and there are many temples and shrines, as well as eel restaurants and stylish shops selling local specialty dumplings and sweet potato confections. It's within an hour by train from Tokyo, so it can be enjoyed as a day trip. As a castle town, there is the Honmaru Palace on the site of Kawagoe Castle, and there is a history museum nearby that you can visit. I thought it would be a good idea to visit several times and stroll through the streets of Little Edo. Next time I'd like to visit in a kimono or yukata. I had a relaxing time visiting the famous places while eating, touring the candy alley and temples and shrines, seeing the storehouses, and seeing the Toki no Kane and the Festival Hall. #Saitama Tourism #Kawagoe #Little Edo #Storehouse construction
