Kantang Railway Station, Trang Province

This is Kantang Railway Station, the last stop of the Andaman Railway. Kantang Railway Station is one of the oldest stations in Thailand that has been with the Southern Railway since its inception. It opened on April 1, 1913. It used to be called Trang Railway Station. Before the provincial capital was moved to Thap Thiang Subdistrict, Trang Station was renamed Kantang Station. Thap Thiang Station was renamed Trang Station. Another highlight of the station is that when we walk out onto the road and look back, there is a car park with a gable roof covered with kite-shaped cement tiles. The gable is decorated with circles flanked by two curved triangles on either side, which is a unique feature of classical architecture. The ticket sales area and platform are spacious. The ticket booth at Kantang Station is different from other stations and is probably the only station that is not a square box. Instead, the ticket booth is decorated with arches, which is a local European architectural style.
