Royal Botanic Gardens, Kandy

The Royal Botanic Gardens of Sri Lanka is located five kilometers outside of Kandy city in the Central Province. Not only is this royal garden the largest and oldest in Sri Lanka, but its history can be traced back to the 14th century when it was a royal garden of the Sinhalese dynasty. By the 18th century, it had become a royal residence, and a temporary residence for the king was built here. Although the royal garden was already magnificent in the 18th century, it wasn't until 1821 that it became a modern botanical garden open for cultivation, research, development, and display. The Royal Botanic Gardens of Sri Lanka has over 4,000 different plant species, covering an area of more than 59 hectares, with an average altitude of over 460 meters. Upon entering the garden gate, you can see three white pillars connected to the iron gate standing upright, simple yet royal. The variety of plants here is so diverse that it's dazzling, and they are all extremely rare species that you can't see outside. In addition, the biggest feature of the Royal Botanic Gardens is that you can see many tall and straight giant trees, and the staff has thoughtfully hung nameplates on the trunks to understand these trees' information. The Royal Botanic Gardens of Sri Lanka is worth visiting. It is a lifestyle that is completely close to nature, which is what modern people lack. For this reason, it attracts a large number of tourists for sightseeing every year.
