[Kanazawa] Kenroku in winter, a mix of history and snow

Kenrokuen is one of Japan's Three Greatest Gardens, located in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. Its history began in 1676 with the Lotus Pond Garden, which was created by Maeda Tsunanori, the lord of the Kaga domain, for his retainers. Successive lords have made repeated renovations to the beautiful garden we see today. The name "Kenrokuen" comes from the fact that it protects six outstanding landscapes. Kenrokuen is especially attractive in winter. The pine trees protected by yukitsuri (hanging ropes) stand out gracefully in the snowy landscape, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
