[Kyoto] Heiwadai Park, a little-known cherry blossom spot with a panoramic view of the Kameoka Basin

Nishiyama (Angyosan), a small mountain with an elevation of about 206m, is located in the center of Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture. Heiwadai Park is a small park built on the mountainside. In August, Kameoka City holds Peace Month, where peace ceremonies and events are held, including at this park, to commemorate those who lost their lives in past wars and disasters. The highlight of the park is the Somei-Yoshino cherry blossoms that cover the entire mountainside. In spring, they bloom all at once, and the park is known as a famous cherry blossom spot in Kameoka City. The best time to see them is usually from late March to early April. 2025 The cherry blossoms bloom late, so it is scheduled for early to mid-April. You can see the Kameoka Basin and the peaks from the slide in the park. The slide itself is quite authentic and very popular with children. You can also enjoy bird watching and forest bathing.
