Kairouan has two reservoirs, one large and one small.

Built in 862 AD during the Aghlabid dynasty to address drought and water scarcity, these reservoirs were originally part of a system of 15. Today, only these two remain, with the smaller one used for filtration and the larger one for water storage. In 1988, Kairouan was designated a World Heritage Site, and the reservoirs are one of its notable attractions. This small attraction can be visited in under half an hour. When we went, there weren't many people. We went up to the third floor to see the small reservoir and down to the second floor to see the large one. Souvenirs are sold on the first floor. There's a cannon platform outside, which is a good photo spot. Although the reservoirs aren't particularly visually stunning, they still make for good photos, and other attractions are nearby.
