Takamatsu Castle is known as one of the "Three Great Sea Castles of Japan" along with Imabari Castle in Ehime Prefecture and Nakatsu Castle in Oita Prefecture. Marugame Castle is famous as a castle with the tallest stone wall in Japan. The castle tower enshrined in that stone wall is one of the twelve existing castle towers.
