Standing at 873 meters above sea level, this natural wonder offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including the East Sea and the rugged terrains of Seoraksan. The hike to Ulsanbawi is approximately 3.8 kilometers each way, taking about two hours to ascend. The trail begins at Seoraksan Small Park in Sokcho, passing notable landmarks such as Sinheungsa Temple, believed to be the oldest Zen temple in the world, and Heundeulbawi Rock, a precariously balanced boulder that visitors often attempt to rock. Ulsanbawi is steeped in legend. According to folklore, the rock traveled from Ulsan to contribute to the construction of Mount Geumgang. Upon arrival, it was told there was no space left, leading it to settle permanently in Seoraksan.
