🚗 Arrival in Datong & book Private Car Charter (包车):
We opted for a private car for maximum flexibility — a great choice as many key attractions are spread out.

A true architectural marvel built into a cliff. A must-visit, though the walkways are narrow — not for the faint-hearted!

One of China's most impressive Buddhist cave complexes. The carvings are massive and detailed — absolutely stunning.
🍜 Dinner at 凯鸽酒楼 (Kaige Restaurant):
Local gem! Authentic Shanxi dishes with generous portions and wallet-friendly prices.
🏨 Check-in: Starway Hotel (Datong Gucheng West
Gate):
Clean, modern, and conveniently located near the old town. Excellent value for money. Staff were helpful, and the bed was comfy.
Day 2:
🏯 Datong Old City Wall & Nine-Dragon Screen (九龙壁):
Explore the well-preserved city wall and the iconic Nine-Dragon Wall — the largest glazed dragon wall in China.
🛍️ Stroll around Datong Ancient City:
The area is scenic with restored ancient architecture. Great for photos, local snacks, and cultural souvenirs.
