Huang Shan | Tasty local Chinese restaurant with good vibe

During my last trip to Huangshan, I ate at "Huangshan Laoma," where we had an entire building to ourselves. This restaurant is quite large, and the ordering process is convenient—you go up to the counter to see the different dishes, watch them being freshly prepared, and browse through the food displays. We ordered a dish similar to oil-fried shrimp, and it was delicious. Unlike the overly sweet and greasy Shanghai version, this one had a great balance of rich oil flavor, making it super tasty. The chive wontons were fantastic, with a crispy bottom from being pan-fried. The chives were fragrant, and the wontons were huge. The lily dish was very refreshing, with a subtle sweetness from the lilies that made it great with rice. The tofu was a must-try in Huangshan.
