Hong Kong Museum of Art exhibits works by Spanish modern art master Miró

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) held its first collaboration with Juan from Spain. In collaboration with the Joan Miró Foundation, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Presents Series: Miró’s Poetic Everyday Life exhibition will be held at the Hong Kong Museum of Art from March 3 onwards, showcasing the work of Spanish modern art master Juan. This exhibition features over ninety of Miró’s masterpieces from different periods and in different media. It is a rare large-scale retrospective exhibition of Miró’s work in Hong Kong in recent years. The exhibition will allow the public to learn how this influential Spanish artist of the 20th century transformed everyday objects into poetic abstract art. Juan. Miró is one of the most famous Spanish artists of the 20th century. He is known as one of the "Three Masters of Spanish Modernist Art" along with Picasso and Dali, and has had a profound influence on modern art. Its innovative techniques, childlike images and bright colors were very popular among artists of the time. Throughout his long and fruitful creative career, Miró has always been keen on interpreting everyday objects and discovering their inherent poetry. His lifelong ambition is to connect art with life. With his unique insight, he often finds poetic qualities in the most inconspicuous objects in daily life, turning ordinary objects into extraordinary works of art. The exhibition displays a total of ninety-four works of Miró's art, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, textiles, lithographs, posters and video materials about him, covering his early to late works. Many of the works come from Juan, the company founded by Miró himself in 1975. The exhibition at the Joan Miró Foundation comprehensively showcases the master’s breakthroughs and achievements in different media, allowing the audience to review his creative career. The Hong Kong Museum of Art also specially invited local artists to create art to pay tribute to Miró’s artistic masterpiece and inject a Hong Kong perspective into the exhibition. New media artist Liang Jijue drew inspiration from Miró's poetic symbols to create a series of multimedia installations that explore the process of transforming images and sounds into symbols. Like Miró, artist Chen Litong seeks breakthroughs in materials and forms of expression, selecting non-traditional sculptural materials to create her own abstract works. Illustrator Lin Yayi and the museum’s curatorial team will introduce Miró’s creative characteristics and techniques through picture books. Based on Miró’s style, they will also set up augmented reality scenes in the museum, allowing children and adults to explore Miró’s poetic world together. In addition, the art museum carefully selected works by artists such as Zao Wou-Ki, Wu Guanzhong, Chen Fushan and Xia Biquan from its collection for exhibition at the same time, allowing the audience to feel the similarities between Chinese and Western artists in their understanding of abstract art, and to launch a unique exchange and dialogue between Chinese and Western art. #goodplacestodischarge #discharge #goodplacesforfamily #holidayfamilytravel #localtravel #goodplacesinhongkong #goodplacesonweekdays #goodplacesonweekends #goodplaces #localfamilytravel #familytravel #parents #familyactivities #check-inattractions #check-in #hklifestyle #hkdaily #hkiger #hkig #hongkong #hk #instadaily #travelhk #discoverhk #explorehongkong #exploringhongkong
