Night Ranger: Yuen Long Tai Tong Maple Forest

December to January every year is the red leaf season. If we talk about the best places to enjoy the red leaves, Tai Tong in Yuen Long must be the first. There are many Liquidambar trees with dense and numerous red leaves, which are bright red when in full bloom, which is quite spectacular. The entire route is mainly flat and not difficult. The elderly, children, and baby strollers can all do it. We chose a Saturday and made an appointment with a friend's family. We first took the MTR to Long Ping Station, had a tea break, and then transferred to the Hongye Bus K66 to get off at Tai Tong Shan Road Bus Terminal. After eating the Regal ice cream, we started walking upwards and reached the maple forest in about an hour. The children can walk, play and fight along the way, which is very suitable for families and friends to travel together. After admiring the maple forest, everyone was still not satisfied, so they continued walking forward and passed the tenth section of the MacLehose Trail. After walking for about an hour, we couldn't find a suitable exit. It was getting dark, so we entered a village to ask for directions. The campers told us that we could get out in about two hours if we kept walking. We didn’t dare to move forward with our three kids, so we decided to return the same way since we at least knew the road conditions. It got dark quickly. The adults were a little scared, but the children were very excited, probably because they had never walked at night before. Worried that there might be wild boars, monkeys or other animals in the mountains, he picked up some branches for self-defense and quickly walked back. The mountains were very quiet. If it was just our family of three, we would definitely be scared. But because we were accompanied by a friend’s family and we chatted as we walked, we didn’t feel so scared. Finally, we walked out of the maple forest when it was completely dark.
