Cracking Art in Harbour City

This is my first time encounter cracking art. I didn't know what is it until studying the information. "Cracking art" is an art movement created by the renowned Iltalian Cracking Art group of 6 international artists. The name comes from English verb "to crack" which refers to the state of being split, broken or crushed, for the artist, it represents the instant when something natural becomes artificial. This "Cracking Art Public Installation" exhibition in Harbour City is their first eco-public art exhibition in Hong Kong. It is designed to dialogs with the environment, stimulate the interaction with visitors, and to highlight the increasingly close relationship between natural life and artifical reality, especially the use of recycled plastic. The bright colours of the animal scrupltures throughout Habour City catch my attention and so are the visitors! We can touch the sculptures and take photos freely. We are also welcome to have an up-close interaction with the cracking art and enjoy the amazing views of Victoria Harbour~ The sculptures are of different sizes and with bright colours. The use of recycled plastic triggered our conversation apart from the beautiful craftmanship. Each species of animals are chosen for its strong symbolism. Their mission of minimizing waste and reducing the environment impacts are effectively transmitted and announced. This exhibition successfully engaged the public and connect with people!
