The Fishery House reopens after renovation

The "Fishing Hall" located at the Lions Club Nature Education Center in Tiao Hang, Sai Kung, completed renovation and reopened (December 16). 　　 Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Leung Siu-fai, Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), said: “In addition to providing the latest information on Hong Kong’s fisheries, the refurbishment of the Fisheries Pavilion also incorporates many multimedia and interactive elements to introduce the characteristics of the local fisheries through models, specimens, animations and interactive games.” 　　 The "Fishery Museum" has three themed exhibition areas, introducing the history of Hong Kong's fishery, the current situation of fishing and aquaculture, and the development of modern aquaculture models. The museum’s five mascots – “Mr. Yellow Lips”, “Red Shirt”, “Green Shirt”, “Yellow Pomfret” and “Blackhead” – are all representative local caught and farmed fish species. They will lead visitors to understand the local fishery from multiple perspectives. 　　 The exhibits in the "Fishery Museum" are rich and diverse. Among them, the fishing vessel model and three miniature models (including a traditional marine fish farm, a semi-submersible truss deep-water cage and the Aberdeen Fish Wholesale Market) clearly demonstrate the operating methods of fishing and aquaculture in Hong Kong and the wholesale marketing of fishery products; the transparent fish specimen exhibition presents the unique shapes and skeletal arrangements of different fish species to visitors.
