Ngong Ping Plaza consists of four main attractions: the New Archway, Bodhi Road, the Altar of Earth and the Chinese Pavilion. The new archway was built at the entrance of Ngong Ping Plaza and adopts the northern-style architectural design of the Qing Dynasty to match the architectural style of Po Lin Monastery. On both sides of the Bodhi Path are placed the "Twelve Generals of Medicine Buddha" and forty lotus lanterns. The "Twelve Generals of Medicine Buddha" are guardian gods in Buddhism, with a general taking turns to guard each of the twelve hours of the day. At the same time, they also represent the twelve zodiac signs, so each god will wear a crown engraved with the twelve zodiac totems on his head. Ditan Temple is located in front of the Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha, where religious ceremonies are occasionally held. The architectural design of the Chinese-style pavilion and garden complements the style of the Po Lin Monastery. The tranquil garden sets off the solemn Tian Tan Buddha, making the Buddha's majesty and grandeur even more apparent.
