Delicious Hainan Chicken in Harbour City

Located at the far-end of Ocean Terminal in @harbourcity, @hainanshaoye impresses diners with an authentic Singaporean/Malaysian menu and stunning sea view. The restaurant was quite packed when we came for weekday dinner, so we were only able to get a table after 20 minutes. Everything was digitalized from getting a ticket for the queue to ordering with a QR code. Upon being seated, we were served a pot of hot tea ($8 pp) that had a faint floral scent. The drinks which we ordered also came promptly after. [Roasted Almond & Popcorn Milk Tea] We were surprised that the sweet popcorn flavor stood out against the Hong Kong-style milk tea topped with whipped cream. In comparison, the almond taste was more subtle and not as prominent. [Hainan Chicken Rice Set] If you’re only going to order one thing here, make it this as it comes with veggies and a comforting chicken soup. The plump boneless chicken breasts (+$8) were already marinated, so we didn’t really need to use any of the sauces. [Satay Platter] We got to choose 2 kinds of meat and preferred the tender chicken over the beef. Both were flavorful in its own way while the accompanying sauce wasn’t very spicy . [Crispy Honey Single-bone Chicken Wings] The juicy chicken wings were probably served straight out of the pan as they were piping hot. It was a bit unexpected that the honey is not directly glazed on the chicken wings, but rather added to the sweet and sour sauce beside.
