I had a dinner date with a foreign friend, and they brought me to The Globe in Soho, Central. Upon entering, I realized this place is a canteen for expats. Besides authentic British cuisine, one of the highlights is the wide variety of beers, red and white wines, cocktails, and gin & tonic, perfect for a cheerful chat with friends. 8 Wired Mandarin Mahu $115 (400ml) This beer is brewed by a New Zealand brewery and has a refreshing taste due to the addition of citrus, making it very easy to drink. N.I.P Catnip Gin No.2 $160 This gin is from a local Hong Kong brand, mixed with orange peel and juniper berries, giving it a fresh taste that feels like being in a forest. Roast Pumpkin & Feta Salad $110 For food, we started with a salad that includes pumpkin and feta cheese. It's refreshing and appetizing. Scotch Egg $120 No British meal is complete without a Scotch egg. The crispy outer layer, bouncy minced meat, and runny yolk inside provide a triple texture experience in one bite. Red Wine Braised NZ Lamb Shank $235 For the main course, we ordered the New Zealand lamb shank braised in red wine sauce. The meat is very tender and flavorful, with a subtle wine aroma. The mashed potatoes underneath are creamy. Beer Battered Atlantic Haddock $195 Fish and chips are another classic British dish. The large piece of haddock is fried to a golden crisp, making your mouth water at the sight. The fish inside is tender and soft, and the seasoning on the fries is well done. Banoffee Pie $95 We also ordered a Banoffee pie to share. The combination of banana, cream, toffee caramel sauce, and a crispy crust is very satisfying with every bite.
