Hong Kong Restaurant Exploration: Coucou Hotpot‧Tea Break 📍Mong Kok Gala Place

Enjoy a hearty lunch with friends after shopping in Mong Kok's bustling district! Coucou Hot Pot & Tea Break, located in the basement of Gala Place on Dundas Street, has soft lighting and a relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant offers a super comfortable dining environment with ample seating and a spacious feel, perfect for gatherings with family or friends. The condiment counter offers a wide selection of seasonings, snacks, and fruit. We opted for the 'Double Hot Pot', featuring both a kelp broth and a Taiwanese signature broth, offering both light and rich flavors. The kelp and bonito broth is light yet delicious, laden with kelp, bonito, and clams, further enhancing its umami. The Taiwanese spicy hot pot is incredibly rich, featuring a signature spicy broth base paired with unlimited duck blood and tofu, creating a fragrant and flavorful feast. Don't miss the gorgeous seafood platter, featuring five fresh seafood dishes. I particularly enjoyed the scallops and fresh slices, which were generously chopped. The fresh white eel slices were so delicious that I ordered an extra portion. The meat was tender and bouncy, and paired perfectly with the sweet kelp broth. The cutely shaped cat claw shrimp balls were chewy and the shrimp meat was sweet and fresh. A beef hot pot must-have. The American beef shoulder was evenly marbled, bright red, and juicy, and a light ten-second boil was just right. The tripe was black, not over-blanched, and large, fresh and refreshing. After the meal, there was a smoothie and dessert, which was a real treat! I had a cup of iced Double Pomelo Jasmine Tea and a pot of hot Da Hong Pao Pearl Milk Tea.
