Restaurant: Taste Pavilion (Tsuen Wan) Address: Shop 3017-3018, 3/F, Ocean Pride Mall, 100 Tai Ho Road, Tsuen Wan Chinese cuisine and stir-fry dishes are common for every Hong Konger 🥢. There is always a tea restaurant or a Chinese restaurant nearby. However, a private kitchen-style Chinese stir-fry is rare: a customized menu, requests based on personal preferences, and even dishes not on the menu can be provided. This is what Taste Pavilion, a newly opened restaurant in Ocean Pride Mall, Tsuen Wan, offers. The restaurant is quite busy on weekday evenings. Shortly after we sat down, the staff served us tea, which costs $10 per person. They offer four special flower teas, including Rose Yunnan Pu'er, Osmanthus Tieguanyin, Buckwheat Jasmine, and Chrysanthemum Hangzhou Longjing Tea 🫖, which have a more floral aroma than regular teas 🌸. The dinner menu features over 30 Chinese dishes, and you can also request seasonal private dishes prepared by the chef. Each dish can be ordered in regular or small portions, with the former suitable for 3-4 people and the latter for 1-2 people 🈴. After ordering, the staff served a plate of four appetizers and a MSG-free carrot and corn soup 🍲. ✝️Chongqing Grilled Fish (Small) $138 The grilled fish is cooked with four types of special Sichuan chili peppers, using sea bass, which has tender meat and fewer bones 🐟. The skin and bones are grilled to a crispy texture, and the spicy aroma of the chili peppers makes it particularly appetizing 🌶️. The dish also includes enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts, potato slices 🥔, and wood ear mushrooms. ✝️Stir-fried Pepper Vermicelli with Prawns (Small) $128 This dish includes four large prawns 🦐, with vermicelli underneath that has absorbed all the flavors. Both the prawns and vermicelli are full of pepper aroma, making it perfect with rice 🤤. The only downside is that you have to remove the prawn intestines yourself 🙈. ✝️Shunde Pan-fried Fish Belly $98 An off-menu private dish recommended by the staff, featuring pan-fried fish belly seasoned with sand ginger and scallions. Although it looks simple, it is very flavorful. The fish is fresh and tender 🐟, and the price is very reasonable for such a dish 😍.
