The abandoned stone houses in the quarry, giant stone walls, and a large patch of reed grass give people a sense of depression and mystery, as if they have entered another world! Why is there a mine in the fishing village? Because more than 100 years ago, many Cantonese people moved to Lei Yue Mun. They made a living by "beating stones", and the stones were sold to Shunde, Taishan, and even Europe. In those days, Lei Yue Mun, together with the three villages of Niu Tau Kok, Si Cao Wan and Cha Kwa Leng, which also operated stone-breaking, were collectively known as the "Four Mountains". Beginning in the 1980s, the stone mining industry declined, and mines were closed one after another, leaving only the quarry we see today.
