Tai Kwun was the name for the Central Police Station in the old days. The current Tai Kwun is a complex of statutory monuments including the former Central Police Station, Central Magistrates' Courts and Victoria Prison. It has a history of more than 100 years and is full of 19th century colonial architectural style. The revitalized Tai Kwun complex has now become a comprehensive project for historical, cultural and art exhibitions, shopping, dining and leisure. However, it also retains some former facilities such as the prison cell detention room for tourists to visit, and there are also different exhibition halls displaying relics of the former police station and court scenes. In terms of dining, Tai Kwun has many Chinese and foreign restaurants and bars, each with its own characteristics. Sitting next to Central Plaza during the happy hour in the evening, drinking red wine while appreciating the architectural features of Tai Kwun in the historical and cultural atmosphere is quite enjoyable.
