Petal Panorama: Hirosaki’s Castle in Bloom

#cherryblossom25 From April 16 to May 5, 2025, Hirosaki Park in Aomori Prefecture hosts its renowned Cherry Blossom Festival, showcasing approximately 2,600 cherry trees across more than 50 varieties. This includes the iconic Somei Yoshino and weeping Shidarezakura. The park’s unique pruning techniques, inspired by local apple orchard practices, result in exceptionally dense and vibrant blossoms.   Visitors can stroll through the famous “sakura tunnel” along the western moat, enjoy boat rides beneath the blossoms, and experience evening illuminations of the trees and Hirosaki Castle until 10 p.m. The festival also features cultural performances and food stalls, offering a comprehensive hanami experience.
