In the past, this temple was just a small shrine with the deity Lu Zhou (one of the 8 immortals) as the presiding deity. People generally call this shrine "Lu Zhou Shrine". 🪷In 1988, Hat Yai City was hit by a major flood. Wat Chi Chang itself was severely damaged to the point that it could not be repaired.
