We visited Leifeng Pagoda in the late afternoon, and it honestly felt like walking straight into a Chinese legend. The moment we saw it rising over West Lake, perched on Sunset Hill, we just stopped and staredโit looked so regal against the sky, like something out of a storybook.
Escalators brought us up through the park, and we entered the pagoda, which is a beautiful mix of modern restoration and ancient soul. At the base, we stood on glass floors looking down at the original ruins from over a thousand years agoโit gave me chills. There were displays about the Legend of the White Snake, and reading those stories while being right there made everything feel more magical.
As we climbed higher, the views just kept getting better. At the top, we were treated to one of the most breathtaking scenes Iโve ever witnessed: West Lake shimmering in the sunset, boats floating gently by, willow trees dancing in the breeze. It was silent and golden, like a painting come to life.
The best part? When night fell, the pagoda lit up like a glowing lantern. Locals and tourists gathered around the lake, sipping tea and taking in the moment. It wasnโt just sightseeingโit was one of those rare experiences that slows you down and fills you up at the same time.
