Yangmeiling Village, a Jiangnan-style ancient village in the mountains

Yangmeiling Village is a Jiangnan-style ancient village in the mountains of the southern part of Hangzhou's scenic area. It is also a popular attraction along the Jiuxi Scenic Area. It is said that Yangmeiling is the source of the Jiuxi Scenic Area. Yangmeiling Village is surrounded by mountains, with a quiet environment, lush tea gardens, and green trees, making it a great place for tourists to visit and take a break. Especially in spring, around the Qingming Festival, the village is crowded with tourists who come to drink tea, buy tea, and enjoy the spring scenery. The scene is like a simplified version of the famous painting "Along the River During the Qingming Festival." Why is it called Yangmeiling? According to historical records, the village produced the famous "Jinpo Bayberry" during the Song Dynasty. Over time, the mountain ridge was called "Yangmeiling," and the village became Yangmeiling Village. Due to social and historical turmoil, the "Jinpo Bayberry" was destroyed. To restore the historical truth, with the strong support of the government, the village has planted more than 50 acres of bayberry trees since 2006 and has been expanding every year. Qianlong Road is the main road of Yangmeiling Village, with a total length of about 1,500 meters and a width of 3.6 meters, running through the entire village. Qianlong Road connects Jiuxi Road in the south and Manjuelong Road in the north. According to historical records, it has a history of more than a thousand years. On both sides of the road, there are homestays, tea houses, restaurants, and more. Qianlong Road is actually the best witness to the history of Yangmeiling Village. Yangmeiling Village mainly focuses on tea planting and tourism and is one of the first-level protected areas for the famous West Lake Longjing Tea. Due to its special geographical environment and climate conditions, Yangmeiling Village mainly produces top-grade Shifeng Longjing Tea and is one of the key production villages for national gift tea. Of course, attracting tourists with tea has also promoted the vigorous development of mountain tourism in the village, bringing considerable economic income to the local villagers.
