Watching Jiang Xun's 'The Lightness of Clouds and Breeze' at Mingyue Building on a rainy day

Rainy day exhibition Mingyue Building is located on Beishan Street, beneath Baoshu Mountain, by the West Lake, nestled between the West Lake Villa and the Shangri-La Hotel. It is a villa from the Republic of China era, comprising three parts: the east, south, and north courtyards. The name of Mingyue Building is derived from Bai Juyi's poem 'Endless Love', which contains the line 'the moon shines bright as people lean on the railing of the building', and also embodies the artistic conception of 'the bright moon over the high building, where the fleeting light lingers, toasting to joy in life, how much time do we have'. After a century of weathering, Mingyue Building has preserved its original appearance within the old architecture of blue bricks and black tiles. The architect Xie Tian, through protective dismantling and restoration of elements like the lattice screens, stairs, handrails, and cement wall skirts, has uniformly decorated with different shades of gray to maintain the original style, emphasizing the purity and tranquility of the space with elements like 'concealment, simplicity, white, and plain'. Taiwanese writer Jiang Xun chose Mingyue Building to host his second exhibition in mainland China, 'The Lightness of Clouds and Breeze'. The humid air of the Jiangnan misty rain permeates the sky above the West Lake, entwining Jiang Xun's deep connection with the West Lake, while the ink-wash landscape of the West Lake complements his 'lightness of clouds and breeze' state of mind. The endless splendid plum blossoms on the barren mountain, The sound of the wind in the quiet, deep pines, The cloud-covered mountains reflected in the pond, The cat that watches in return, The lotus flowers blooming in summer... In the light ink scroll, One feels The white clouds floating in the sky, The gentle breeze blowing in the face, In each stroke and each mark, Rediscovering the beauty of the Southern Song Dynasty; Every life, After the bustle, returns to tranquility, Flowing towards the lightness of clouds and breeze...
