[Korea] Gyeongju World Heritage Site Bulguksa Temple

#AbsolutelyFreeTrip Bulguksa Temple Bulguksa Temple is a place that everyone who visits Gyeongju must visit. Located on the slopes of Mt. Toham, Bulguksa Temple is widely known as one of Korea's leading temples. It is said to have been built with the aim of recreating the world of Buddha, the land of Buddha, in this world. There are various theories about when it was first built, but the Bulguksa Gogeumsoki records that it was built in 528 (the 15th year of King Beopheung's reign) at the request of King Beopheung's mother, Lady Yeonge. After that, it continued to thrive for about 1,000 years with repeated expansions and renovations, but most of the buildings were burned down during the Bunroku-Keicho War at the end of the 16th century. The current appearance of Bulguksa Temple dates back to the late Joseon period, and was restored in 1973 based on excavations in 1968. In 1995, it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a treasure that Korea can be proud of to the world. Bulguksa Temple has seven national treasures.
