Guangzhou Nanhai God Temple

Built in 594 AD, the Nanhai God Temple has a history of over 1,400 years. It is the place where Chinese emperors worshipped the sea and is the only remaining sea god temple among the four major sea god temples in China. It is also one of the birthplaces of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and an important historical site for foreign trade exchanges. The Nanhai God Temple covers an area of over 30,000 square meters. From south to north, the central axis includes: the "Calm Sea" stone archway, the first gate with the plaque "Nanhai God Temple," the second gate with the plaque "Saintly Virtue," the ceremonial pavilion, the main hall, and the Zhaoling Palace. In addition, the Ming and Qing dynasty wharf ruins, 46 stone inscriptions, and the "Nanhai Bathing Sun Pavilion Poem Stele" are also worth visiting.
