Sun Yat-sen University.

Sun Yat-sen University - the top university in Guangdong and one of the attractions for Guangzhou people! It was founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen in 1924 and was originally named National Guangdong University. After the death of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the school was named National Sun Yat-sen University in 1926. In 1940, the school moved to Pingshi, Shaoguan, a mountainous area in northern Guangdong. In 1952, it was merged with some departments of Lingnan University and other universities and was named Sun Yat-sen University. In 1981, it became one of the first institutions in the country authorized to award doctoral and master's degrees. In 2001, it merged with Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences to form the new Sun Yat-sen University. As of December 2023, the university consists of three campuses in Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen, five campuses and ten affiliated hospitals. Over the past 100 years since its establishment, the university has trained and supplied more than 800,000 talents of various types, and has made positive contributions to serving national strategies, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and deepening international exchanges and cooperation in education.
