【Wartburg Castle, Germany】 With a long history, visit Germany again in 2024

Built in the 11th century, it was once the residence of Saint Elizabeth and religious reformer Martin Luther. It is also a symbol of German culture and nationalism. In 1999, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. I took a bus from Eisenach to the foot of the castle, and then walked up the mountain, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Thuringian Forest along the way. After arriving at the castle, I joined a German-speaking guided tour and learned more about the history and architecture of the castle. What impressed me most was Luther's room, where he spent ten weeks translating the New Testament into German, which had a profound impact on German language and literature. I also admired the castle's banquet hall, knight's hall, church and museum, and felt the medieval atmosphere and the charm of art. In addition to the castle itself, I also strolled around the nearby town and tasted local food and specialties such as sausages, beer, and wooden souvenirs.
