Dalian Russian Street - China's First Russian-style Street

After leaving Zhongshan Square, I came to Russian Street. Although Dalian was first built by Russians, the Russian occupation was short-lived. In less than ten years, Dalian became a Japanese territory. Despite this, during the short Russian occupation, the Russian Empire made large-scale investments in Dalian. After all, although the Russian Empire was vast, Dalian was the only ice-free port on the Pacific Ocean. Because of this, Dalian's importance in the Russian Empire's territory at that time cannot be underestimated. In just ten years, Dalian developed into a huge port city, with streets full of Russian style extending in all directions, making Dalian the most Russian place in the Eastern world, and also an important result of the Russian Empire's crazy Yellow Russia plan. However, with the defeat of the Russo-Japanese War and the establishment of the People's Republic of China, Russia was permanently driven out of Dalian, and Dalian's Russian style was gradually forgotten. It was not until 2000 that the Dalian Municipal Government decided to renovate and restore the Russian style of Tuanjie Street, which is nearly 500 meters long northwest of Shengli Bridge. This also means that after entering the new century, the Chinese people, who have washed away a century of national humiliation, can face the past more calmly. Since the Russians have been driven away, Russian style is just a tourist attraction rather than a colonial memory. Walking on Russian Street, there are more than 20 Russian-style buildings on both sides of the short street, operating Russian restaurants, nightclubs, bars, tourist crafts, souvenir shops, etc. It is a very exotic street.
