The Cultural Tradition of Shanxi--Daixian Confucian Temple

Dai County Confucian Temple is located in the southwest corner of the "Daizhou Ancient City" in Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province. The "Daizhou Confucian Temple" was founded in the Tang Dynasty. The exact time is unknown. It was burned down due to war in the 18th year of Yuan Zhizheng (1358). In the 27th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1367), Li Yuanfeng, the governor of Daizhou, proposed to donate money to rebuild the temple. It was completed in August of the second year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1369), forming a classical building complex covering an area of ​​more than 15,000 square meters. It is the largest existing state-level Confucian temple in North China and a rare classical building in Shanxi Province. It is also the largest and best-preserved ancient building complex in Dai County.
