Gangaramaya Temple

The largest temple in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, located by Beira Lake. It was founded in 1885 and is a popular site for local Buddhists to visit and worship. Highlights: 1. Main Hall: Filled with vibrant statues of Buddha, various sculptures, and colorful murals. 2. Courtyard Buddha Shrine: Features a seated Buddha statue. 3. Staircase Buddha Statues: Rows of seated Buddha statues arranged in a staircase-like manner, with a structure modeled after the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya behind them. 4. Elephant Exhibit: A preserved elephant that was once kept at the temple.
