🇹🇭The long-necked people of Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, who were raised since childhood

When I traveled to Chiang Mai, I took part in a local one-day tour. I left the city and took a minibus to visit a tribe in the north of Chiang Mai, close to Myanmar. After having breakfast at the hotel in the morning, wait comfortably in the lobby for your tour guide to pick you up. After confirming your identity, you will board the minibus and head to your destination. But the minibus’s shockproof design was so poor that it almost made me vomit. 🤢 At noon, we visited the White Temple in Chiang Rai, and then had a meal at the buffet restaurant next to it. There were many options and we ate very full. After a short rest, we prepared to go to today's destination, the Long Neck Tribe. Although when I booked the trip, some people on the Internet said that this itinerary was cruel and should not be reduced to a commercial activity. But if such a journey can help local people earn some money to sustain their lives, I don’t think it’s a big deal. We followed the guide's footsteps and explanations as we visited the tribal shop. The guide also asked us to experience taking photos with half a collar. The collar in the photo was actually very heavy to hold. It was hard to imagine that the people in the tribe had to wear it from childhood to adulthood. When we arrived at one of the shops, we saw a cute little girl wearing a neck collar. The tour guide explained that in order to make the neck appear longer, one should start wearing it from a young age (after about five years old) to help adjust the shape of the neck. I was also honored to take photos with the little girl. Although I was smiling happily at the time, I guess the little girl must have felt helpless in her heart. Only by traveling around the world did I realize how vast the world is. Seeing many things has also taught me to cherish my current life and to be kind to others in the hope of making the world a better place.
