Travelers can choose between flying, taking a bus, or riding the train. I flew from Don Mueang Airport via Airasia, which was a quick and budget-friendly option. Other low-cost airlines like Thai VietJet and Thai Lion Air also operate flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), a journey that takes about 1-1.5 hours. Alternatively, overnight buses and trains offer scenic routes, with the sleeper train providing a comfortable, affordable way to travel, lasting around 10-12 hours. ⛰️Top Attractions Chiang Mai is rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage. During my visit, I booked a convenient joiner trip to Doi Inthanon National Park, which included lunch, a visit to the stunning pagoda, a trek to a waterfall, coffee tasting, and a stop at an Elephant Sanctuary for an ethical, hands-on experience. Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest peak, offers breathtaking views, making it a must-see. The Old City, surrounded by ancient walls and a moat, is home to the famous Three Kings monument and beautiful temples.
