Wat Phan Tao, one of the very old temples in Chiang Mai city, is located in Phra Singh Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, just 400 meters from Wat Chedi Luang. Originally, Chiang Mai people called this temple "Wat Pan Tao" (Thousand Times), meaning that making merit only once will bring back a thousand times the merit. But later it was distorted to "Phan Tao". Wat Phan Tao itself is also beautiful and has a unique identity that is no less outstanding.
