Lisu Homestay, Doi Luang Chiang Dao
When I visited, I booked two months in advance and was among the first to reserve. The accommodation provided a tent, but I didn’t expect to get the very first tent, which was located at the lowest point of the area. It was quite inconvenient as I had to walk up and down steep paths frequently (the tent was at the bottom, but the restroom was at the top). Upon arrival, I was the first guest and requested to switch to an available tent at a higher location, but the owner refused, citing inconvenience. For anyone planning to visit, I recommend discussing the location of your accommodation in advance to avoid such difficulties.
Regarding the tent and bedding, pillows and blankets were provided, and they were clean. The tent was rainproof and well-protected from water droplets. However, it was unbearably hot during the day, making it impossible to rest inside. I had to move to the upper open area to cool off. The restroom lacked any bathing amenities, so you need to bring your own. There was no hot water, the water pressure was low, and the shared restroom was not very clean. If you stay in a house, you’ll get a private bathroom.
As for the food, it was included in the accommodation price. Dinner consisted of steamed rice, omelet, chili paste, clear soup, and stir-fried vegetables. The taste was decent and edible. You could also order additional dishes like a barbecue set. Drinking water had to be purchased separately, except for breakfast, which included Ovaltine and rice porridge. Overall, I wasn’t very impressed. The view was indeed beautiful, but the heat and the crowded atmosphere detracted from the experience. This place seems to have the most accommodations compared to others in the area, which attracts a lot of tourists. It felt less private, noisy, and hard to sleep. The parking area was crowded, and there was competition for dining seats.
Another spot in Ban Na Lao Mai also attracts many visitors. This place has a restaurant and a wide open area, offering a panoramic and stunning view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao. I sat there enjoying the view while ordering roti. The weather was perfect—cool and pleasant, making the experience delightful. This location also offers accommodations, but when I first visited, the houses were fully booked, leaving only tents available. So, I decided to stay elsewhere. If you want to stay here, it’s best to call and reserve in advance to secure a good spot with a beautiful view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao.
