Phanom Rung Historical Park @ Buriram

Phanom Rung Stone Castle is one of the most famous Khmer stone castles in Thailand. It is one of the most important tourist attractions in Buriram Province. On April 2-4 and September 8-10 of every year, the sun rises and shines through the 15 doorways. Villagers walk up to see the magnificent combination of nature and the constructions of their ancestors. In addition, on March 5-7 and October 5-7 of every year, the sun sets and shines through the 15 doorways as well. Phanom Rung Historical Park or Phanom Rung Stone Castle is one of the stone castles in the Ratchamarga group. It is located in Village No. 2 (Ban Don Nong Haen), Tambon Tapek, Amphoe Chaloem Phra Kiat, approximately 77 kilometers south of Buriram City. It consists of important historical sites located on the top of an extinct volcano, approximately 200 meters above sea level.
