Jakarta is notorious for its traffic, so your hotel's location directly impacts your entire stay. Marriott properties here are mainly concentrated in a few key areas: near the Chinese Embassy, close to the city center's Indonesia Plaza, or along the elevated highway connecting these two areas. This time, I opted for Le Méridien, situated right alongside the elevated highway.
Le Méridien hotels in Southeast Asia vary quite a bit in style. Those in Malaysia and Indonesia tend to be older, while the Bangkok property is newer and more modern. Interestingly, I haven't come across one in Vietnam yet!
What I Liked About Le Méridien Jakarta:
Reasonable Price: Hotel prices in Indonesia typically don't fluctuate much, making them quite fair compared to, say, Hanoi. This hotel is considered relatively affordable among Jakarta's five-star options, with a corporate rate of less than $150 USD – a five-star experience for under 1,000 RMB.
Great Location: As I mentioned earlier, the city center and embassy area aren't adjacent. If your activities span across Jakarta, or even extend to the old Chinese district in the north, this hotel's location is an excellent choice for convenient access.
Good Food: Both the breakfast restaurant and the ground-floor lounge offer a very good selection of food.
Le Méridien Jakarta provides a solid option for travelers seeking a strategically located, well-priced, and comfortable five-star experience in Jakarta's bustling environment.
