Sometimes, all you need is a quick change of scenery — and honestly, hopping on a KTX train from Seoul to Busan might be one of the best spontaneous travel decisions I’ve made in Korea. The day started early (and I mean early) at Seoul Station. I grabbed a coffee, boarded the KTX, and two and a half smooth hours later, I was stepping into Busan — South Korea’s laid-back coastal city that feels like a breath of fresh, sea-salted air. First stop? Gamcheon Culture Village. I’d seen photos before, but nothing beats wandering those bright alleyways in person. Each corner is packed with art, color, and charm. It’s quirky, artsy, and full of tiny shops and cafes that feel like little treasures waiting to be discovered. After that, I made my way to Jagalchi Market — a must if you’re into seafood. It’s loud, local, and full of energy. I sat down for a plate of sashimi that was probably swimming that morning. So fresh, so good. In the afternoon, I headed to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple — and wow. It’s perched right on the coast, with waves crashing against the rocks below. Peaceful, scenic, and a totally different vibe from the temples you find in the city. Before heading back, I squeezed in a stroll along Haeundae Beach — golden sand, city skyline in the distance, and locals walking their dogs or sipping iced coffee on the boardwalk. I didn’t have time to dip my toes in the water, but just being near it felt like the perfect way to wind down. By evening, I was back on the train to Seoul — a little tired, a lot happy, and already planning a return trip.
