Our walk across Nydeggbrücke was short, but packed with charm. This elegant old bridge in Bern connects the bustling Old Town to the quieter, historic Nydegg area, and gives you one of the best panoramic views of the Aare River below. As we stood at the center, the soft breeze and gentle sound of the river made the moment feel incredibly peaceful.
On one side, you see the rooftops of medieval buildings lining the UNESCO-listed Old Town, and on the other, you get a great view of the Bern Bear Park and the green surroundings hugging the river. It’s a view that perfectly captures the character of Bern—historic, calm, and full of natural beauty.
The bridge itself is simple in design, but it carries so much history. Walking across it made us feel connected to centuries of stories and people who’ve passed through this beautiful city. A hidden gem, not just a path between places, but a viewpoint worth pausing at.
