We stopped by the Migros Restaurant at Marktgasse in Bern while exploring the city. It’s a classic self-service cafeteria located inside a Migros supermarket—great for a convenient and budget-friendly meal in a central location.
The setup is simple and clean, with plenty of seating and a buffet-style layout where you pay by weight. We found a mix of salads, hot Western and Asian dishes, sandwiches, and desserts. It’s not gourmet, but it’s dependable and does the job, especially if you just need to refuel during a busy day out.
The food was generally fresh. I picked a plate of grilled vegetables, chicken, and some pasta. Tasted decent, though nothing particularly exciting. The highlight was the flexibility—you get to take what you want, as much or as little as you like. Their salad bar was quite decent too.
Service is minimal since it’s self-serve, but the space is well-maintained. One small downside: the toilets aren’t complimentary unless you’ve made a qualifying purchase, which felt a bit inconvenient.
Overall, it’s not a place for ambience or a slow meal, but for a fast, fuss-free lunch in the heart of Bern that won’t break the bank, this Migros Restaurant works just fine.
