While lamenting the loss of another staycation option, I suddenly wondered how many hotels still retain smoking 🚬 rooms. So, based on experience and memory, I’m sharing this guide for those who need it, listing prices from high to low. ▪️ **Beijing:** - The Mandarin Oriental Qianmen: Every room comes with a private courtyard. - The Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing: Terrace Guest Rooms/Suites and Garden Suites. - Rosewood Beijing: Luxury Terrace Suite (a special room type on the same floor as the spa). - Waldorf Astoria Beijing Wangfujing: VIP Terrace Guest Room (4th floor) and VIP Terrace Suite (4th or 12th floor). - JW Marriott Hotel Beijing Central: Garden Suite (very limited availability). - Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing: Courtyard Room (no view). **Shanghai:** - The Shanghai EDITION: Terrace Suite (only two in the entire hotel). - The Peninsula Shanghai: Executive Suite (previously had terrace rooms, now discontinued). - Capella Shanghai: Every room has a private courtyard. - I’m unsure about the terrace at Regent Shanghai (formerly Seagull Hotel). - The Middle House: 60 sqm Terrace Studio or Terrace Suite (on the 11th floor, but currently unavailable for booking). - InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin: Executive Building Rooms (some have terraces; confirm in advance). **Guangzhou:** - Jumeirah Guangzhou: Terrace City View/Tower View Suites, Two-Bedroom Suite, Presidential Suite. - Rosewood Guangzhou: Two Terrace Suites (expensive and often long-term booked). - The White Swan Hotel and Park Hyatt Guangzhou: Both still have smoking 🚬 floors (confirm in advance). - New World Guangzhou: Terrace Guest Room, Duplex Terrace Suite, and Cloud Mansion Suite. - Kempinski Hotel Guangzhou: Many room types with terraces should be available. **Shenzhen:** - The Ritz-Carlton Shenzhen Futian: Terrace Suite (renovated by CCD). - Hilton Shenzhen Shekou: Some sea-facing rooms in the Marina Wing (the St. Regis Shenzhen’s Presidential Suite also has a terrace, but it’s not practical for most guests; I’m less familiar with Shenzhen, so feel free to add more in the comments). ▪️ The trend of luxury hotels eliminating smoking 🚬 rooms is irreversible—it saves cleaning costs and improves room conditions and guest experiences. However, frequent hotel guests, especially those in high-rise hotels, know how inconvenient it is to go downstairs. So, if a hotel still offers such rooms, I’d prioritize them; otherwise, I’d accept it and head downstairs. ▪️ A reminder: 🚬 is harmful to your health—smoke less. Don’t try to sneak a smoke in your room either. A friend of mine once triggered the fire sprinklers, flooding their room and the entire floor, effectively wiping out two years of earnings.
