The Forbidden City 故宫

It is the imperial palace complex and residence of the Chinese Emperor and his household members during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, from 1420 to 1924. With an area of around 720,000 square meters, 980 buildings, and more than 8,000 rooms, the Forbidden City is said to be the largest collection of ancient wooden structures in the world by UNESCO. According to stories from parents, it is so large that the palace complex accommodates hundreds of houses for the Emperor's concubines and their respective children.
