[UK] Visiting Baku, the only World Heritage city in the UK | Transportation Attractions. One-day and half-day tour routes

The first time I heard the name Bath was as one of the stops in some local tour groups. I remember when I was watching the local tour group about Stonehenge, I saw that many local tour groups put Bath and Stonehenge together. Then I looked at the comments of those people after experiencing the trip. Most people thought Bath was a beautiful place, but it was a pity that if you join a tour group, you won’t have enough time in Bath! So I decided to move Bath from a side dish to the main dish😂😂 Most people would probably want to go to Bath (I did too at first 🤣) but Bath is actually the only city in the UK that is listed as a World Heritage Site. It is full of ancient Roman characteristics and is known as "Little Rome". It is a place worth spending a day to slowly explore! Baku Introduction: Baku (Bath) is also known as Bath. Although the name Bath is more commonly used, I think the pronunciation of Baku is closer to Bath, so I will use the name Baku from now on. Baku is an ancient city with a long history and is known as the "cleanest city" in the UK. More than 2,000 years ago during the Roman rule, the Romans discovered that this place had a beautiful environment and natural hot springs, so they named it Bath, which means "bathhouse." Baku is most famous for its ancient Roman baths. This ancient city is not large in area, suitable for a half-day tour or a day-long slow tour. Transport from London to Baku: Baku is located 156 kilometers west of London and it takes about 1.5 to 3 hours to get there from London. Train: Take the train from Paddington Station to Bath Spa Station, the journey takes about 1.5 hours. Bus: Take the 403 National Express from Victoria Station to Baku, the journey takes about 3 hours. I was lucky enough to have a friend who drove there, but it still takes more than 2 hours to drive there! After arriving in Baku, you basically don't need to take public transportation, as most attractions can be reached on foot. Baku Attractions: 1. Baku Roman Baths Address: Stall St, Bath BA1 1LZ The Baku Roman Baths are the most famous and must-see attraction in Baku. If you haven’t visited the Roman Baths, it means you haven’t been to Baku! More than two thousand years ago, this place was a popular resort for nobles to relax and enjoy. How luxurious it was to visit the Roman Baths! The modern us only costs about £17.5 (peak season price) to get in, and the voice guide is free! As soon as you enter, you can see the large public bath. This is also a must-photograph spot, just like the Post Card! You can take photos from a high place to get the same feeling as the Post Card, but if you want to take photos of the large bathing area, it is recommended to go downstairs! Leading to the lower level is an indoor exhibition hall, which not only displays artifacts from the ancient Roman period but also plays related videos. When you get to the middle of the walk, you will find an activity room where you can try on ancient Roman costumes and transform yourself into an ancient Roman! This thing that looks a bit like the mouth of the true God is called Gorgon, which can be translated as snake-haired banshee, and also has the meaning of scary. It is often placed on doors, walls, shields, chest guards and tombstones to ward off evil spirits. Minerva’s Head is a very rare gilded bronze statue and one of the most important finds in Baku. There is also a model next to it for tourists to touch. Although the Roman Baths are now only open for visitors and not for use, the hot water in the hot springs is still in use! There is also a caldron, which, although the floor has been removed, shows a design where hot air flows through to heat the floor. On the lower floor, you can see the large public bath from a closer distance and imagine the images of the past. The lower floor is also the best place to take photos with the large public bath! When you come to the lower level, you may even have the chance to meet the “ancient Romans” and take photos with them! There are so many coins in this pool, it might be the "Wishing Well" in the Roman Baths! The most interesting thing is that they will play clips of ancient Romans taking a bath🛁 2. Bath Abbey Address: 12 Kingston Buildings, Bath, BA1 1LT The Baku Cathedral is right next to the ancient Roman baths. It was built in the 8th century AD and was the coronation site of the first emperor of England! 3. Pulteney Bridge Address: Bridge St, Bath BA2 4AT Built in 1769, Putney Bridge is an ancient three-arch bridge connecting the old and new cities of Baku. There is a restaurant on the bridge, am I seeing right? There is an owl! ! ! I even unexpectedly captured a seagull at a very close distance! The drop in the river water beside the bridge formed a small waterfall, as if it jumped into the city or to the suburbs! 4. Jane Austen Centre Address: 40 Gay St, Bath BA1 2NT Jane Austen was an 18th-century British novelist. Pride and Prejudice was her famous work completed while on vacation in Bath. The Jane Austen Center displays costumes and items from the movies. There is also a wax figure of Jane Austen in front of the door, so you can take a photo if you pass by! 5. Royal Crescent Address: 1 Royal Crescent, Bath, BA1 2LR The Royal Crescent symbolizes the moon. It is a 200-meter-long curved building consisting of 30 buildings. Most of the 30 buildings are private properties, No. 1 is a museum, and the central No. 15 and 16 are hotels. If you want to experience the luxury of the nobility in the past, you might as well stay in one of the star-rated hotels! Baku one-day tour route Suggested route: 【The Roman Baths Bath】> 【Baku Church/Bath Abbey】 > 【Pulteney Bridge】> 【Jane Austen Centre】 > Royal Crescent The suggested routes above are arranged along the way. You can start from the Roman Baths. The most important thing should of course be put first! After visiting the Roman Baths, you can visit the nearby Baku Church, then walk across Putney Bridge to the Jane Austen Centre, and finally end your trip in front of the Royal Crescent, a magnificent building. Baku Half Day Tour Route If you don’t want to spend the whole day in Baku, take a half-day tour! You can just visit the Roman Baths and Baku Cathedral, and end your trip by taking a nice photo at Putney Bridge. #OverseasTravel #UK #BakuUK #BathUK #UKTravel
