#SongkranThip 1192 Soi San Chao Rong Kuek, Talat Noi Subdistrict, Samphanthawong District, Bangkok San Chao Rong Kuek (Rong Kiek Shrine) Return Route History of San Chao Rong Kuek (shoe = shoe) or Hon Wong Shrine Mr. Suchart and Mrs. Siriporn Phonchaiwiseskun have compiled and published the following information: “According to the information on the stone tablet inside the Hon Wong Kung Shrine, which was recorded during the reign of Emperor Guangxu, the 15th year, corresponding to the year 2432, it is stated that Hakka Chinese merchants invited the Lord Hon Wong Kung from China to be enshrined in Thailand for worship for over a hundred years before the current shrine was built. The original shrine was located on the right-hand side. Later, when the Lord Hon Wong Kung procession was held, those who joined the procession It was found that the original shrine was too narrow and unsuitable for performing rituals. In 1888, the faithful were invited to donate money to buy the land on the left side of the original shrine, on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, which at that time still had a wooden house with a thatched roof, from the owner of the land, a Thai civil servant, for 2,400 baht. When the new shrine was completed, the area in front was used to hold an annual tax auction. The income from the auction and the remaining money from the land purchase were given as savings for the shrine committee to use in the procession and to manage the shrine. In the past, the Hon Wong Kung Shrine would hold the Hon Wong Kung procession every 3 years, but at present, it is only held annually on the occasion of the birthday of Chao Pho Prathan Lap (Chao Pho Choi Sun Ya). #tripnearBangkok #wattosann
