Wat Chao Am: A Temple Built by King Taksin

🏡 Wat Chao Am was established in 1779 by King Taksin to dedicate it to his consort, Am, who was executed due to a misunderstanding that she was involved in an affair. The king also constructed a large prang to house her remains. 🏚 The construction was left incomplete as the king had to lead campaigns against various enemy groups. Later, villagers contributed to completing the construction, but the temple deteriorated over time. 🏕 In 1969, Field Marshal Praphas Charusathien, the Minister of Interior, led efforts to donate a large drum to the temple and planted Bodhi and Sala trees brought from Bodh Gaya. He also restored the prang and enshrined sacred relics at its peak. 🙏 In recent years, various structures within the temple have been renovated to honor King Taksin.
